Southwestern Idaho Bird Hunts

Southwestern Idaho currently holds some of the largest wild upland game bird populations left in the country. Extreme Outdoor Adventures in cooperation with its providers has procured 125,000 acres of private ranch land for upland game bird hunting. The land is comprised of 3 huge agricultural ranches that are all interconnecting. The upland game birds that we are hunting are California quail, chuckars, huns, pheasant, dove, blue grouse, and ruffed grouse. California quail often gather in coveys of 100 to 300 birds. Chuckars have as many as 80 birds to a covey. Huns are usually around 20. This hunt is a unique and one of a kind opportunity. There is no other bird hunting operations in this entire regional area of this magnitude.

Hunts are conducted on foot using four wheel drive vehicles and trucks to get into position. There is miles and miles of bottom country for those that are not physically able to pursue wild chuckar in the harsher more challenging mountain terrain. Birds are hunted on foot over pointing dogs and flushing dogs. The scenery is a mixture of mountain terrain both timbered where the grouse are located, and treeless where the chuckars are located. The mountains lead down to agricultural valleys that are planted with corn, rye, wheat, and alfalfa. There are also several creeks in the bottom country where thousands of wild quail are holed up. This hunt is truly a wild bird hunters dream. Hunters will be lodged in comfortable ranch houses. Food, guides, and bird dogs are also provided. Hunters are welcome to bring their own dogs. This hunt is not for the canned bird hunter. These birds are all fast moving and a challenge to bring down. Since this hunt is conducted on foot it is suggested that hunters be in at least fair shape. On good hunting days 500-1000 wild game birds can be moved. This is truly a unique hunt that nothing else really compares to in the country.
